RULES AND IMPORTANT DATES

RULES
The following are a listing of rules for The Maverick Challenge:

  1. All participants of The Maverick Challenge MUST be a Bartholomew County high school student in his/her junior or senior year.
     
  2. Participants  participate individually or as a team. If participating as a team, no more than three students may be on a team. Teams may consist of students from different high schools located within Bartholomew County, Indiana.
     
  3. Participants MUST be signed up for The Maverick Challenge by Friday, September 19, 2008.
     
  4. In order to be eligible for the grand prize participants of The Maverick Challenge MUST attend the following events:

    - Mentor Meet & Greet
      Monday, September 22, 2008

    - Business Planning Seminar (choose one of the following two dates)
      Thursday, September 25, 2008
      Saturday, October 4, 2008

    - Finance Seminar (choose one of the following two dates)
      Saturday, September 27, 2008
      Tuesday, September 30, 2008
     
  5. Participants MUST attend Both the Business Planning Seminar and the Finance Seminar. These seminars will be offered at least twice throughout the competition. Information and Question & Answer sessions will be offered but are not mandatory to attend. These information sessions will only serve to answer basic questions about the competition. Please note dates may be subject to change.
     
  6. The Maverick Challenge consists of two components: the written business plan and the oral presentation. All teams MUST submit their written business plan by Monday, December 1, 2008. Judges will review and rank written business plans. The top ranked teams will then be asked to give an oral presentation on their business plan.
     
  7. All participants MUST use the PitchThenPlan format when constructing their business plan and financial projections.  Failure to follow the PitchThenPlan outline may result in disqualification from The Maverick Challenge.
     
  8. Top team/individuals will be asked to give an oral presentation to the Judging Committee.  These top teams/individuals will be given presentation criteria and expectations at the time they are announced as finalist of The Maverick Challenge.
     
  9. Participants MUST read and agree to the rules of The Maverick Challenge. Failure to do so will result in elimination from the competition.
     
  10. While there are criteria and scoring for the judging of the business plans, all decisions made by the judging panel are final.
