Sacoma International, led by Gerry and Ken Seim, began operations toward the end of 1989.  Sacoma manufactures an array of assembled components for both automotive and non-automotive customers and operates in a state of the art facility in Edinburgh near the intersection of Interstate 65 and US Highway 31.  Sacoma employs 110 employees who specialize in solving complex, high stakes engineering and manufacturing challenges.

Sacoma attributes much of its success on its ability to capitalize on best practices in manufacturing taken from North America, Europe, and Asia.  They have also been recognized on their own for the following:

  • Low cost value chain

  • Best quality

  • Best delivery

  • Best management systems

  • Best engineering support

Even with the many awards and recognitions Sacoma has accumulated over the years, they recognize that success doesn’t come without the dedication and support of its people.  Fortunately, Sacoma has had good, capable people.  In fact, in the last four years Sacoma has doubled its staff from 55 employees in 2001 to 110 employees in 2004.  Sacoma's ability to generate sales have complimented that growth, as Sacoma is one of several companies on the list that are eligible for the Indiana Entrepreneurial Growth Award given by the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Indiana University.

Sacoma is the only company on the list from Edinburgh, an area that offers a complimentary manufacturing base that they have used to partner with others on projects.  Like many of the other businesses, the Columbus area location provides a centrality to its customers, allowing them to meet their customers’ needs more efficiently.
