Elwood Staffing Services, Inc. was founded in 1980 by David L. Elwood, PhD.  At that time, the company specialized in pre-employment testing for local businesses.  Now Elwood Staffing offers temporary positions, term-to-hire opportunities, supervisory training, and professional job placement positions. 

Elwood Staffing has seen dramatic growth, even in the highly competitive staffing industry.  Clearly from their top ten ranking on our list, they have seen impressive growth in revenue over the last four years.  Perhaps even more impressive is their growth in staff.  Since 2001, Elwood Staffing has seen 220% growth in corporate employees and 178% growth in temporary employees. In 1996, Elwood Staffing had two offices with five corporate employees.  Today, they have fifteen offices throughout Indiana employing eighty corporate employees.

With those numbers, it’s no surprise Elwood Staffing was a two-time recipient of Indiana University’s Growth 100 (1997, 1998) and was named the Small Business of the Year by the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce in 1997.  They are also one of several businesses on the list that are eligible for the first ever Indiana Entrepreneurial Growth Award given by the Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Indiana University. 

Despite their success, they are still committed to grow their traditional temporary placement business and plan to further develop their permanent placement of management and supervisory panels.
