SIHO 134.88% Total Growth
417 Washington Street Columbus, IN 47201 812.373.4000
SIHO
(Southeastern Indiana Health Organization) was established and
headquartered in Columbus in 1987 and provides a full line of benefits
services. SIHO was originally
started to slow the rising health care costs for employers in the Columbus
area. SIHO is able to offer a
unique blend of both proprietary provider networks and access to rental
networks, offering clients nationwide health care coverage. In addition, SIHO offers its Prime Choice health plan to
members of area Chambers of Commerce. SIHO
has succeeded in making a positive impact on the Columbus area and has
been recognized on numerous occasions for their contributions.
In 2000, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce awarded them the
Investment in Community Award. In
2002, the Chamber again recognized SIHO with the Growth and Expansion
Award. The City of Columbus also recognized their efforts with the
Mayor’s Corporate Community Involvement Award in 2003. In
addition, SIHO is one of several companies on the list that is eligible
for the Indiana Entrepreneurial Growth Award given by the Johnson Center
for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Indiana University. SIHO
faced a huge obstacle in 2001 when two of their major international
clients consolidated their health plans under national carriers, taking
30% of SIHO’s total business with them.
But senior management began an aggressive campaign to build
relationships and offer a diversified line of products, new locations, and
community involvement opportunities. By 2004, SIHO had grown almost 75% in one year.
SIHO’s
growth has been so significant over the last few years that it has opened
branch offices in Bloomington, Evansville, Indianapolis, Seymour, northern
Indiana, and Owensboro, KY. In
numbers, SIHO provides products and services to nearly 80,000 members of
more than 800 companies. Not only are they opening new branch offices across Indiana, but they are also offering new products and capitalizing on other opportunities created by federal and state government actions in the benefits industry.
