The first Art Walk of 2007 in downtown Columbus is planned
for Friday, May 4 from 5:00-8:00 pm.
Area residents are invited to stroll along downtown
streets, visit businesses and restaurants, and enjoy art
by Midwest artists.
Baker’s Fine Gifts will
unveil spring selections for every occasion – from gift
giving to sprucing-up your home. Cooks & Company is
anxious to show-off their newly remodeled cafe section and
will offer delectables from their kitchen.
The Columbus Area Arts Council’s Artscape Gallery in The
Commons will be open for visitors. The current exhibition
is
Art at Work: Enhancing Creativity in the Workplace. The
artwork in this exhibit is on loan from six local
businesses-Elwood Staffing, Irwin Union Bank, Force
Design, Inc., Kirr, Marbach & Company, Voelz Body Shop,
Inc., and Tecumseh Capitol Partners. Businesses were asked
to participate because of their philosophy that original
art plays an important role in the workplace. Laurie
Wright, Brian Bailey, Marilyn Brackney, David Williams,
Gretchen Sigmund and Bobbie K Owens of Columbus are among
the artists featured in the exhibit. Indianapolis artist
John Domont is also included.
The Columbus Area Visitors Center will feature works by
local jewelry artists Evan Knox, Fredricka Joyner, Peggy
Balmer, Lori Henderson, and Rachel Johnson of Solerella
Silver Design. Their works include lampwork beads, jewelry
comprised of found objects, silversmithing, and free-form,
organic designs with pearls and semi- and precious stones.
Gallery 423
will highlight examples of contemporary works at the
opening of their spring exhibition Brown County Modern.
Brown County artists Peggy Brown, Dixie Ferrer, Chris
Gustin, Joe and Peggy Henderson, Marilyn Kerns, Daren
Redman, Patricia Rhoden Bartels, Anne Ryan Miller, Greg
Schatz and Ron Schuster will be featured working in a
variety of media.
Tamera Pauli is in the process of moving her day spa One
Body One Soul to downtown – 431 Sixth Street. The space
will be open for a sneak preview and Brown County artist
Sharon Jungclaus-Gould will conduct an interactive
expressive arts activity.
Stillframes Photography will present oil painter Bahran
Moshiri. A retired heart surgeon, his subjects include
horses and idyllic country scenes.
Bistro 310
will display works by Brown County photographer Susan
Showalter as well as a special menu created by Chef Jeff
Maiani. Susan turned to the camera to convey her feelings
about the environment to others.
Tre Bicchieri will feature Brown County impressionist
painter Elizabeth O’Rear; Nick Woolls who works in pastels
& watercolor; Mike Briner, a landscape photographer;
photographer Mat Gobert; Karen Pinsonneault, who works in
mixed media; and oil painter Sara Cataline. A special
Davinci’s Palette dinner menu will be available.
