3rd House Sessions provide valuable legislative updates while providing forums for constituents to voice opinions

Representatives from the Indiana House and Senate gather every Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. throughout the legislative session.  While most of the attention that you see in the press is focused on full day kindergarten, the budget, and cigarette tax, there is so much more that you might not be aware of if you have missed the 3rd House Sessions.  If you haven’t been able to attend, here is an update just a couple of bills that you might be interested in watching.

Patent Bill- HB 1461 would expand high tech business in Indiana by exempting income derived from licensing or commercialization of patented technology for businesses of 500 employees or fewer for a10 year start up phase.   This legislation is an effort to attract smaller high-tech businesses to Indiana and expand job creation.  If passed, Indiana would hold a competitive advantage by being the first state in nation to adopt this legislation.

Military Family Leave- HB 1092 establishes an unpaid leave of absence for spouse or parents of a person ordered to involuntary activity in the United States Armed Forces or National Guard for deployment overseas.

For more information about legislative activity, please feel free to join us in discussing legislation first hand with our Senator and Representatives on Monday mornings at the 3rd House Sessions or visit the states website at http://www.in.gov/legislative/
