Planning Department releases Public Review Draft Zoning Ordinance to the Public

This week, the Planning Department began the process of releasing the Public Review Draft of the proposed Columbus & Bartholomew County Zoning Ordinance to the public.  The document is available for review and downloading from the Planning Department page of the City of Columbus website www.columbus.in.gov/planning-index.html.  Print copies are also available for review at the following locations:

  • the Bartholomew County Public Library - Columbus,

  • the Bartholomew County Public Library - Hope,

  • the Eastside Community Center,

  • the Lincoln Central Neighborhood Family Center,

  • the Columbus Chamber of Commerce,  and

  • the Planning Department.

The proposed zoning maps are also available for review, in draft form, at the Planning Department.

The release of this document begins an approximately 30 day public review period, which will conclude in late June / early July with a series of end-user interview sessions and a public open house.  The City of Columbus and Bartholomew County will then schedule a joint steering committee meeting to review the public input and identify any necessary revisions.  The document will then be scheduled for the necessary Plan Commission, City Council, and County Commissioner public hearings.
