CEO Tom Hirons to speak at Chamber's TEN  Meeting
The Chamber of Commerce is proud to present this special opportunity to hear a presentation by visiting CEO Tom Hirons.  Tom, who has an extensive background in marketing, public relations and growing a business, will share his expertise with the Columbus Chamber Members.
18 Booths Remain for the 2007 Tri-County Business to Business Expo
If you are looking to expand your marketing efforts in Jennings or Jackson County, you need to register for the Tri-County Business Expo soon!    We currently have only 18 booths remaining for our premier business-to-business trade exposition with networking opportunities and access to hundreds of business decision-makers from Bartholomew, Jackson, and Jennings Counties.
Chamber Launches New Website
The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce officially launched their new website as a one stop resource for businesses in our community.  The website, located at www.columbusareachamber.com features an advanced search option that will allow you locate member companies, products, services, and events.  The new PeopleFinder search feature allows you to search for key business contacts within 700 companies.

And They're Off! 46 Teams and 120 Young Professionals begin The Amazing Race

Columbus Young Professionals, a program of the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, kicked off the three-month-long event titled, The Amazing Race, which was created to engage young professionals in their community.  Competing for a $2,000 grand prize prize, 46 teams will race around Columbus throughout the summer to events in seven categories including: the arts, culture and business, festivals, sports, tourist in your own city, volunteering, and "only in Columbus"

Employers Must Prepare for Changes In Minimum Wage

As many as 36,000 Indiana workers on lower incomes will see increases in pay over the next two years, as a result of legislation on both the state and federal levels.   The new minimum wage laws that take effect in July will increase the minimum wage in three steps throughout the next two years.   

2nd Annual Biggest Block Party Ever- July 28th
The Columbus Area Arts Council’s second annual MJAI and JWI’s Biggest Block Party Ever takes place on Saturday, July 28 from 4pm until midnight on 4th Street between Jackson and Franklin. Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are free.
Bartholomew County Livestock Sale
There are several ways to support our local 4-H club in Bartholomew County.  One way is to come to the Livestock Sale Auction on Saturday, July 14th.  The auction is fun, and the kids take great pride in the animals they have raised and are ready to sell. 
Seeking Nominations for Rural Service Award
The Rural Service Award has been presented since 1954.  The purpose of the award is to recognize the efforts of individuals, adults or youth, from Bartholomew County, who have donated their time and effort for the betterment of the rural community.  These contributions may have been made through church, 4-H, farm organizations or any other organized group.
