Want healthy employees in your work place? Of course you
do. Studies have shown that healthy employees are more
productive than those with frequent health issues and
related absenteeism. And promoting health in the
workplace is the right thing to do. A workplace with
healthy, less stressed employees can work to everyone’s
advantage.
If you are looking for a fun way to engage
your employees in a focused effort to improve health,
consider Healthy Communities’ Bartholomew County on the
Move program. This is a three-month lifestyle challenge
that has helped Bartholomew County lose over two tons in
the last three years! Teams of five compete for minutes
of activity or for pounds lost. Registration fees are
just $5 per person, with participants receiving a packet
of material to support them in making and keeping fitness
resolutions for the New Year. Confidential, monthly
weigh-ins are conducted by registered dieticians, which
allows participants to get individual assistance with
their nutrition goals. Fitness instructors are also
available for consultation during the early part of the
weigh-in day for anyone wanting to start or maintain an
exercise program.
The program begins January 10th. Register in advance
through Parks and Recreation to save time during the
initial weigh in, which will be held at Donner Center from
7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. January 10th. Call Parks and Rec
at (812) 376-2680 if you are paying by credit card. A
registration form can be accessed at
http://www.crh.org/healthy_communities/main.html.
Any Bartholomew County business with at
least five teams (25 people) interested in the program can
arrange on-site weigh-ins to make the program more
convenient for your staff. For more information, call
Healthy Communities at (812) 376-5452. |
