If you are 50 years or older or are interested in engaging
those over the age of 50 in employment, civic engagement
and lifelong learning – Heritage Fund needs your help!
Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew
County was one of 30 community foundations in the U.S.
selected to take part in a long-term initiative to study
the needs and opportunities for experienced adults to
remain engaged in community life. People reaching 60
today generally benefit from better health, more education
and greater financial security. Neither young nor old,
they have much to contribute and more options than ever in
how they choose to invest their time, talent, knowledge
and experience during full or partial retirement, or
without retiring at all. We need to make sure they stay
activity involved in our community through employment,
civic engagement, and lifelong learning.
Heritage Fund is partnering with Senior Center Services to
conduct the research project. Civic Boom! will gather
information in two ways; by means of focus group
discussions and through on-line surveys. We would like to
encourage everyone over the age of 50 or those interesting
in engaging the talents of Bartholomew County residents
over the age of 50 to take a few minutes to complete one
of the surveys.
Please visit the Heritage Fund’s website
www.heritagefundbc.com and click on Civic
Boom! You will be directed to the two surveys. The
surveys will be available through February 23, 2007.
Heritage Fund will submit its Civic Boom! report to
Atlantic Philanthropies in April. Additional funding may
be available to develop programs and initiatives that
would address the barriers identified during this first
phase of the Civic Boom! project.
Your support of Civic Boom! is appreciated.
Project updates will be posted on the Heritage Fund
website. |
