Study Shows 63% of Consumers Want to Purchase From Chamber Members
The study, commissioned by the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), IBM, Administaff, Small Business Network, Inc., and Market Street Services, showed that when respondents were told that a particular small business was a member of its local Chamber, they were 44 percent more likely to rate it favorably than study respondents who were not told of the Chamber affiliation. Respondents were also 63 percent more likely to want to purchase goods or services from a small business that is a Chamber member.

Join us for a display of farm equipment and an Ag Expo before enjoying your delicious steak dinner at the 2007 Rural Urban Dinner on Thursday, September 13th. The Ag Expo begins at 5:30, and dinner at 6:30. The event will be held in the Community Building at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Tickets are $12 each in advance.

We sold out the months early in the year, so we’re starting now planning for 2008.  Chamber members are invited to host a Meet Me @ 5 to showcase their business, meet new people and thank their existing customers. It is a great marketing & business development tool.
Columbus Regional Hospital Receives American Hospital Association National Quest for Quality Prize

Columbus Regional Hospital is the recipient of the 2007 American Hospital Association (AHA) – McKesson Quest for Quality Prize®, the highest quality honor awarded annually by the hospital industry. Columbus Regional Hospital is the first hospital in Indiana to be awarded the Quest for Quality Prize and was recognized at the national 2007 Health Forum and AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego on July 22.

The Civic Boom!
Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County and Senior Center Services will present the results of The Civic Boom! study on Thursday, August 30th from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at YES Cinema in the Commons Mall. The partners encourage everyone to attend. The presentation will be of special interest to people involved in human resources, not-for-profit organizations, continuing education, or individuals over the age of 50.  
Help Celebrate International Literacy Day, September 7th
Help celebrate International Literacy Day and demonstrate your commitment to literacy by reading wherever you are on September 7th at 10:00a.m. More than 11,000 students from both Bartholomew County public school corporations will celebrate by reading for 15 minutes.

ActionCOACH Business Coach, Mark McNulty Receives Global Action Man Award
ActionCOACH Business Coach Mark McNulty received a 2007 Global Action Man Award at the ActionCOACH Global Conference in Dublin, Ireland. He received this recognition for being one of the top online resources in the world for other business coaches in the ActionCOACH system. While in Ireland, he also attended 3 days of training and workshops on a wide variety of personal and business growth topics. Guest speakers during the conference included Brad Sugars, founder and CEO of ActionCOACH, Michael Losier, author of Law of Attraction, and Jay Conrad Levinson, author of the Guerilla Marketing books.

Kim King Smith Awarded State Scholarship
Gloria Boyden, state coordinator for the Association of Bridal Consultants, has announced that local event planner and bridal consultant, Kim King Smith, has been awarded the annual state scholarship award. King Smith, owner of Kim King Smith Events, LLC was awarded the scholarship for her active participation in the Association of Bridal Consultants, her commitment to the bridal industry and her continuing education. Kim King Smith will be the 2008 event coordinator for the Association of Bridal Consultant’s largest endeavor, “Art of the Table” held at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in February.
King Smith is the wife of local dentist, Dr. Mark Smith, Edinburgh. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Indiana University. Her company, Kim King Smith Events, LLC offers coordination of weddings as well as social and business events.
