Six Sigma Project Expo showcasing the 40 winners of the annual Chairman’s Quality Award

At Cummins Inc. we use Six Sigma in innovative ways to help us improve the quality of our products, make our processes as efficient as possible and reduce costs in all departments. Six Sigma has enabled Cummins to save or avoid costs of more than $1 billion since its inception in 2000.

Six Sigma – as a quality improvement and cost reduction tool – is now deeply ingrained in the Cummins culture. We use Six Sigma on manufacturing processes, risk management, design of new products and in working with customers.

We would like to extend an invitation to the Columbus area business community to see how we have made Six Sigma work at Cummins. On May 8, 40 of the top Six Sigma projects will be showcased in an Expo at the Columbus Engine Plant.  These projects represent the best of all Six Sigma projects completed in 2006 and have been honored with the Chairman’s Six Sigma Quality Award.

At the Expo, you will have a chance to see how we apply the tools of Six Sigma to manufacturing, accounting, finance and other processes. These are tools that have helped to transform Cummins and we would like to share with you.
