The 2007 Get on Board Community Service Expo brings
together volunteers and opportunities to make a difference
in Bartholomew County.
Volunteer Action Center of Bartholomew County, Leadership
Bartholomew County, and Heritage Fund – the Community
Foundation of Bartholomew County are collaborating to
sponsor the fourth annual Get on Board Community Service
Expo from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, April 17, at the Commons.
The purpose of the expo is to help persons new to the
community and long-time residents become actively involved
in the community and to connect people to organizations
and clubs that meet their special interests.
The free expo will feature approximately 85 not-for-profit
agencies and civic organizations that will have table-top
displays and information about their programs and
volunteer needs.
The public is invited to stop by the tables of local
agencies and organizations to chat with staff and
volunteers about community service and membership
opportunities. Hors d’oveuvres and soft drinks will be
available.
The expo will feature two special focus areas this year:
volunteer and community service opportunities for youth
and teens and Senior Project Proposals for Columbus East,
Columbus North, Columbus Christian, and Hauser in-coming
seniors.
In recognition of National Volunteer Week, Volunteer
Action Center will be presenting the first annual GEM
(“Going the Extra Mile”) Awards during a volunteer
appreciation ceremony during the expo. Volunteers
nominated by the agencies and organizations will be
selected by an independent panel of judges based on
Distinguished and Outstanding service to the agency and
the community.
To register an agency, club or organization and reserve
table space for the Get On Board Community Service Expo or
