The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) requires that you ask each new employee to complete the employee section of a Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.  You must then complete the employer section to verify the employee's identity and eligibility to work.

You can get M-274, Handbook for Employers, which contains Forms I-9 and instructions for INS regional and district offices.  This form gets filed in an employee file at your location or office, you do not have to send it to the INS.
