If you must register for unemployment
Insurance at the state level, then you will need form 2837. Report
to Determine Status. In general, if you have an employee for some
part of a day, in each of twenty weeks during the calendar year, or if
you pay $1,500, or more, in gross wages during a calendar quarter you
must register with Indiana Department of Workforce Development to
register for an employer account number. There are many advantages
of timely reporting of this form. If State Unemployment Tax is
reported and paid on time, a credit of 5.4% is issued on Federal
Unemployment Taxes. Also, you will avoid interest charges of 1%
per month and a penalty charge of 10% on all of the contributions
due. Submit with remittance all Quarterly Tax Returns by April
30th, July 31st, October 31st, and January 31st. Be sure to notify
the Unemployment Insurance Department in writing or by fax of any
address or status changes. |
